1. Chinese Courses:

The Thangka Academy is one of the most beautiful places in China to learn or practice your Chinese. Our two, stunning, traditional buildings offer a relaxed environment to study.

Our classes can be tailored made to fit your level - And you can study for as long as you wish.

2. Learn Thangka

Like all of our programs at The Academy you can study for as long as you wish and start whenever you want.

You do not need to have any pre-existing knowledge to start your course. We can cater for complete beginners as well as those who have already studied Thangka else where. All classes are supervised by our resident teacher Palden Namgyal and they are overseen by our Master Thankga painter, Lama Lobsang Khedup.

For day to day concerns about the Academy you can talk to Sonam Gelek Thangka classes start at 9am through to 12:00 Noon, Monday to Friday. Saturday and Sunday is Free time to study and paint when you wish.

Lunch is from 1pm to 2pm.

In the afternoons, everyone enrolled on the Thangka course will have two hours of language classes.

You may choose between Tibetan and Chinese, or do one hour of both. You will be assigned a personal tutor for the duration of your stay at the Academy.

All language classes are one-on-one tuition.

3. Tibetan Courses

Learn Tibetan at your own pace in one of the most beautiful schools in China/Tibet.All our classes are based on one-on-one tuition with local, experienced teachers.

You may choose:  *Lhasa dialect  *Khampa dialect  *Amdo dialect (Drokpa)

You do not need any previous knowledge in Tibetan to start learning. Each class is tailor made to suit your level of learning. You can concentrate on various aspects of the language, from Learning to write, reading Buddhist texts or just simple street conversations to help you while you are traveling.

Our versatile methods and variety of activities will maximize the amount that you learn in the time you study. After your course, you will be well on your way to fluency.

Like all our classes, you can start and finish when you want and study for as long as you like.
