The trading business history of the Ancient Tea Hors Road, made Shangri-la becomes a junction of Yunnan, Sichuan, and TAR, in material trading and culture exchange. Tibetan Buddhism has deeply influenced its politics, art and culture. The high plateau and gorges created beautiful Tibetan clothing and adornment.  Both men’s clothing –“Chuba” and knife on the waist; or woman’s white skirt - “Balayeuse” and rubes on the hair, all represents the beauty of ethical arts.  The oral form integrated poems, have chanted many historical heroes. This is a kind of poem that integrates poem, ballad and aphorism, passed generation to another verbally. Today, people’s life is changing to be better in material, and also increased numbers of tourist and commercial applications have brought a tremendous challenge to maintaining the local ethnic culture in its original status. Many traditional cultural treasures are gradually disappearing; therefore, we feel deeply distributed and strongly responsible.

Dakpa Kelden:
Shangri-La, the beautiful dream of man’s soul for thousands of years. Snow Mountains and Gorges, grass plateau, and monasteries, this is my beloved hometown where I would never depart.  To give all I have, I will stand by him along with happy and painful times.  I have went through many hard time in establishing Shangri-La Association of Cultural Preservation, such as; application approval, capital on the site, finding a suitable place and hiring workers, until a workable platform is ready.  During the time, I have receipt many friends’ generous support who are from different countries and different ethic groups; blessed by numbers of Rinpoche and Lama; supported by the leaders of Shangri-la government.  Today, I feel great responsibility than ever, alike a head touching down pilgrim, I will one head touching down with one step until our holy land, protecting our history, preserving our culture, and revival of our mother land.
I believe our children, and grand children will be very proud of our magnificent roots! Tashi Delek!

Lama Khedup:
Ancient Tibetan culture, along with time passing through, is on the edge of disappearing today. The great teachers, who carry the cultural treasures, are leaving us timely. The young generation, are missing on the road of identify themselves. The responsibility of cultural preservation and protecting our spiritual home, it is the profile of courage although on a long road. I hope all friends who have same target are coming working with us. Let’s taking this historical duty together.
Preying to the great teacher Tsong Ka Pa for guiding us!

Thupten Dolkar:
Beautiful Qinghai Tibetan plateau nurtured and riches the Khampa culture. Ancient Tea Horse Road witnessed the harmony and equality among all ethic groups.  I am deeply engaged with Tibetan culture and Tibetan people who are so kind, simple and unadorned.  Whenever I see the beauty of Tibetan art is being distributed or changed to a profit oriented commercial product, more than ever, I felt responsible to our next generation, to the identity of completed Chinese culture.  It is my great pleasure to meet Mr. Dakpa Kelden, a running Khampa man who wishes to tell all that his hometown history and culture need to be preserved.  He has very much influenced my viewpoint on wealth, social position, individual career success and life target. Today, to contribute a little of my ability in preservation of Tibetan culture and art, it is my great pleasure and I am strongly committed.  Tashi Delek!
