(1) Establishing Tangka art studio
- Admittance of talented Tibetan youths from Tibetan Khampa areas, to be taught the careful and specific skills needed for Tangka painting .
- Scheduling Tangka art lectures and open to public
- Presenting student’s work in the Tangka Art Center and other location
(2)Colleting and presenting Tibetan folk poems, music, and dance
- Inviting and welcoming selected senior folk artists, collecting folk music, poems, and dances which will be soon disappearing.
- Under the instruction of specialists, students will study and adapt ancient techniques into their work.
- Scheduling lectures and activities of these folk arts and open to public.
(3) Handy craft studio
- Collecting and selecting traditional, local handicrafts, inviting senior skilled folk masters to teach and assist in establishing a functioning work studio.
- Scheduling lectures to all interested participants within the actual studio. Participants may select their own topics, materials, to make and enjoy their own handy crafts, in order to pass this skill to all and to learn and appreciate by actually doing.
(4) Advanced study in Tibetan Buddhism
- Since Tibetan Buddhism is a part of Tibetan culture, we are currently sponsoring a number of monks from mountain areas to Palpung Monastery in Dege and Monastery in central Tibet, for advanced training and studies.
(5) In the next three years we plan to establish the Association as a well established center which leading a trend of preserving local Tibetan culture and art, while at the same time encouraging all people to participate actively in the local arts. The hope is that in time the Association will be seen as a center of culture preservation and creation in not only Shangri-la but within the greater Shangri-la. |
